Forsyth Technical Community College in Winston-Salem is in line for a $916,000 National Science Foundation grant to grow its AI degree, add lab equipment, and later bring humanoid robots and robotic arms on campus for students to program. About 80 students are in the college's AI certificate and degree courses this fall. Student Hannah Willson said she is already using classwork on machine learning and chatbots in her job the same day. The college also helped write 24 AI courses meant to be available at all 58 of North Carolina's community colleges.
